Compressed files, or ZIP files, are great for certain tasks in the business environment. That said, many individuals simply don’t know what they do and what benefits they offer. Today, we want to change that. We’ll discuss what a ZIP file does and how you can make one.
Explaining the .ZIP File
You’ll notice we use compressed and ZIP files interchangeably here, and that’s because they are functionally the same thing.
Simply put, these files are made smaller, eliminating redundant data and reorganizing what’s left. This offers several benefits to users, such as:
- Preserved storage space
- Simplified data transmission
Here’s how you can compress your own files.
Create a .ZIP File for Yourself
Windows 11 makes it much easier to create a compressed folder without the need for any external software.
First, find the file or folder you want to compress. All you have to do is right-click it and choose the option Send to. From here, you select the option for Compressed (zipped) folder. That’s it! Now that the file is compressed, it’s much easier to share by email or through other collaboration solutions your business utilizes.
